The Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy
Lake Garda is the largest and most visited of all bodies of water in Italy. Picturesque villages, ancient castles on the lake, walks along the coastal line. The lake has a diverse landscape with beaches along the southern shores and rocky cliffs above the Northern shoreline. Lake Garda is famous for its clear water and perfect for swimming in the summer. Windsurfing, sailing and Hiking in many parks of the lake, also famous activities.
Lake Garda is in Northern Italy between Venice and Milan. Garda is part of the Lombard region to the West and Veneto to the East. The Northern part is situated in Trentino-Alto Adige. The highest rated have hotels Riva del Garda to the North and Desenzano del Garda in the South.
Lake Garda is well served by boats, ferries, especially in summer. Car ferries can be found everywhere, between the West and East shores plying between Toscolano Maderno and Torri del Benaco and between Limone and Malcesine. Public buses go around the lake.
Riva del Garda is the world’s summer resort and one of the best places for Windsurfing. In the city dominates the castle.
Malcesine’s historic centre is dominated with small streets, small harbour and medieval castle. In Malcesine a cable car that goes to Monte Baldo, known as the Garden of Europe. There are Botanical gardens, Hiking paths and historical monuments.
Bardolino has thermal baths, a Wellness centre with beauty salon and Caesius Spa resort.
Peschiera del Garda — one of the most picturesque towns on the South shore of the lake. Its small historic center is inside the walls of the 16th century. Can be reached by train, bus or ferry. It is also close to a Golf course.
Gardaland is the biggest amusement Park in Italy. There is a free Shuttle bus from Pescheria railway station. Bus Gardaland covers a lot of items around Garda.
Sirmione, a city of artists and poets, has a medieval center dominated by a large medieval castle. The city is known for its thermal spas and baths.
Le Grotte di Catullo, the Sirmione Peninsula, is the ruins of the Family Villa of Catullus, writer and Senator of the Roman Empire. The site is located in the most picturesque point on the Peninsula, surrounded by olive and lemon trees.
Fat — is an elegant town of pastel houses established by Mussolini in 1943, it built a magnificent Cathedral.
Gardone is known for its beautiful Park with exotic plants. Its historic center dates from the middle ages and has both medieval and Baroque buildings. There are several aristocratic villas of the early 20th century.
